Sydney Wooden Boats Pty Ltd commenced trading in 2012. The two partners in the business are Simon Sadubin and Tom Coventry. We have experience in building and restoring timber boats that has collectively spanned 20 years. We have both trained in other fields that adds to our experience.
Prior to training as a shipwright, Simon was employed at the Australian National Maritime Museum as an exhibition designer. He has a degree in industrial design, and has contributed to several books written on Australian maritime history. Simon is also a serving member on the Australian Register of Historic Vessels. He founded Sydney Harbour Wooden Boats in 2000, which operated out of the Chowder Bay Boatshed in Mosman until 2012. This business was the foundations for Sydney Wooden Boats Pty Ltd
Tom Coventry trained as a carpenter and surveyor, specialising in timber frame construction and architectural fitout. He has 25 years of experience in this field. Tom has since retrained to gain qualifications as a fully certified shipwright. He brings experience and passion for timber boats to the business.
Both Tom and Simon are timber boat owners and enthusiasts. We genuinely understand timber boats have first hand experience in the custodianship of such vessels, and want our clients to have a good timber boat experience.
